Alberobello

Famous for its characteristic houses, called trulli, declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. The districts with the highest concentration of the typical trulli, located in the center of Alberobello, are: the Monti district, purely used for commercial activities, restaurants and bar and the district Aia Piccola, mainly residential. Each trullo is usually formed by a central square-shaped compartment that communicates by means of arches with the kitchen and other rooms. Many of the trulli are open to the public.
